It is more than a little hilarious that you celebrate Christmas.
Stick to your guns, people. If you don't believe in Jesus, you really shouldn't be participating. If you're not Jewish, would you celebrate Hanukkah? REAL atheists want no part of this sycophantic holiday.
It is NOT an American tradition. We are not the only country who celebrates Christmas. It's a straight up Christian tradition. If you are so convicted by your atheism, don't you think you could live without the presents? So if you don't believe in Jesus, let alone God, and you still give and receive gifts in the name of Christmas, you are a big fat hypocrite.
But then
who ISN'T a hypocrite?
Christmas is a pagan tradition of Babylon which leads the entire year in adultery, loneliness, jealousy, drunkenness and drunk driving, family arguments (and worse), and accumulation of debt that often lasts until March. We have professed to be Christian nations, but we’re in Babylon, as Bible prophecy foretold, and we don’t know it! ‘Come out of her, my people, that you be not partakers of her sins, and that you receive not of her plagues’ God bless, as for the atheists.... well continue to practice this pagan tradition.
ReplyDeleteI celebrate the spending of money....
ReplyDeleteAphex, you're right. The holiday traditions are indeed pagan, such as the Christmas tree, which is done in many different pagan holidays. And of course, we worship EVERYTHING having to do with Christmas besides Jesus. The things we love about the holiday season are false idols in the disguise of good will. If we stripped all the decorations, presents, and Santa Claus' away, we'd be left with a very beautiful Christmas.
ReplyDeleteAnd Jew, can I call you Jew? Jew, money makes the world go round. I would say that money should have it's own holiday, but it already does--all of them.
Yes, a beautiful Christmas indeed, but trying stray away from what this holiday has become seems impossible, especially when you're a parent. I think the important thing that people forget is the giving part, especially when it comes to kids, most kids these days expect gifts and that's it (spoiled little brats).
ReplyDeletethis may be hard for you to believe but maybe we enjoy spending time with our families and giving gifts and the whole christmas atmosphere too. as for christians, why celebrate christmas in two days? that guy's birthday wasn't even in december so this whole celebration on your part reeks of idolatry of some sort
ReplyDeleteAphex,
ReplyDeleteYeah, we're already so steeped in our tradition that the holiday is never going to go back to its roots. And the most exciting part of Christmas IS receiving gifts. Without the anticipation of getting presents, t
the Christmas season wouldn't be nearly as exciting.
Anonymous,
I don't know why Christians chose December 25th to celebrate it, because he WASN'T born then. But either way, Jesus is the ultimate idol, and I have no problem practicing idolatry towards him.
But families, gifts, and the Christmas atmosphere are all what I would consider false idols, and it ISN'T what Christmas is about. Christmas is about Jeesssuussssss! YAY! So I don't understand why an atheist would enjoy these aspects of Christmas when they are done in the name of Christ. I think Kwanzaa sounds like a lot of fun, too, but I don't believe in it, so why would I celebrate it?
As for your "this may be hard for you to believe" comment, do you think that just because I'm Christian, I think atheists are inhuman or something? Come on. I just think it's a cop out to be able to get free stuff.
