falling asleep

Why is that many a time when I am drifting off to sleep do I get weird images in my head, like the cast of Dexter dressed up for the Day of the Dead festival in Mexico City, or people's faces except with a mustache? Probably because it's the way my subconscious mind processes my daily life. Or maybe that's really my conscious mind, and I'm only pretending to think rationally.
Also, every time I start to get close to someone, it's like falling asleep on a hammock of rose petals and woken up shortly after because you're falling off of a cliff into an iceburg ridden ocean infested with giant squids. It starts off pretty good, but it just starts getting worse and worse. Or at least, that's what I assume will happen so I wind up cutting to the chase.
So let's hope I'm wrong about everything.
